Ten small caps set to hit the big time
Managers who have built up established businesses in the past can be well worth following as they attempt to repeat their previous successes. Jessica Furseth and the Shares Magazine team select ten small caps with big names at the helm who have plans to take their new firms to the top.

When successful managers who have built up successful companies jump ship to repeat the feat at a small company, Shares Magazine cannot help but get excited. This week, we unveil ten small caps set to make it big. All of them have leaders with proven track records including former Sage (SGE) chairman Michael Jackson. He took Sage from a £24 million market cap at float in 1989 to £2.9 billion by the time he retired in August 2006. Now he wants to repeat the trick at £13.8 million tiddler Access Intelligence (ACC:AIM).
Our ten picks cover a range of sectors, including resources, technology, retailing and medical equipment. What they have all got in common is management teams of top pedigree. Like Jackson, many of these executives have left FTSE 350 companies to start from the bottom once more. Others, like the management team at £50.3 million cap homeland security technology play Digital Barriers (DGB:AIM) have made fortunes selling their previous charges but cannot resist the challenge of building another star market attraction.
